Benevilla Hosts Community COVID-19 Vaccine Clinic

April 21, 2021

Benevilla invites our community members struggling with getting their COVID-19 vaccination shots to join us at our FREE Drive-Thru COVID-19 Vaccination Clinic from 8:00AM to 2:00PM Saturday, April 24, 2021 at our main campus located at 16752 N. Greasewood St, Surprise, AZ, 85378.  The event requires easy to complete reservations and consent forms found on the Benevilla website at:  https://benevilla.org/benevilla-vaccine-clinics/ .

Although all community members over the age of 18 are welcome, our COVID-19 vaccine is currently being prioritized for the following people: adults age 55 and older, healthcare personnel, long-term care facility residents and frontline essential workers as defined by CDC.  This clinic provides our community seniors with a safer and more familiar vaccine location. This reduces anxieties and fears surrounding the vaccine and makes for a more pleasant experience.

“In January, our Benevilla Home Services Program embarked on a mission to help create safe and simple access to the Coronavirus vaccine for the sick and shut-in seniors we serve. Through an amazing partnership with Albertsons Osco Pharmacy in Surprise, AZ we have not only been able to help our members but also extended this essential opportunity to other populations in the community we serve. Our goals are ambitious, and our mission is pure of heart. We strive to provide solutions, resources and peace of mind,” said Benevilla Director of C.A.R.E.S and Home Services, Camrron Anderson.

Transportation options are also available. Benevilla C.A.R.E.S. Sustaining Partner, NeighborCare, will be providing free rides to the Benevilla Vaccine Clinics to those in need. Please contact NeighborCare at: 602-502-6946 or at https://neighborcareservices.com/

Valley of the Sun YMCA will also transport any seniors needing assistance to any COVID-19 vaccination site within Maricopa county.  To qualify for a free ride, the individual must be 65+ years old, and have a vaccine appointment. All ride scheduling and volunteer inquiries will be handled through the YOPAS phone hotline at (602) 212-6088 or via email to opas@vosymca.org

AHCCCS (Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System), Arizona’s Medicaid agency is reimbursing their contracted driving services for transportation to and from vaccine appointments, including time spent waiting in line during the drive-thru vaccination process. The rides count as “non-emergency medical transportation” and are now a covered expense, agency officials said.  Medicaid beneficiaries who have a scheduled COVID-19 vaccination appointment at a drive-through site in Arizona may contact their health plan to schedule nonemergency transportation to attend that appointment, AHCCCS officials said.

“Benevilla is doing our part to help stop the spread of COVID-19 and working hard towards a safer and healthier community for all. Thank you to Bank of America and the Virginia G. Piper Charitable Trust for their generous support of the Benevilla Vaccine Clinics” stated Joanne Thomson, Benevilla President and CEO.

Future Benevilla vaccine clinics are scheduled for July 17th (registration starts June 28th) and October 2nd (registration start September 6th).  For additional information or support in registering, please call 623-584-4999.
