Benevilla Virtual “Caregiver Connect” Event Big Success

November 02, 2020

Benevilla is excited to announce their first ever live, virtual “Caregiver Connect” event held Monday, October 12th from 9:00AM until 12:00PM was a big success.   With everything in disarray due the Covid-19 pandemic, Benevilla felt it vitally important to continue to offer this free educational event providing family caregivers with support, expert guidance, and valuable information to assist them on their caregiving journey. The event was easy to join in several, unique ways.  Participants were able to watch a live stream on the web at www.peoriaaz.gov/PeoriaTV, tune into Cox Channel 11 or Century-Link Channel 8509 or watch the event directly on “Facebook Live.”  The entire event was recorded live and can be watched at leisure at: https://youtu.be/IwjanjDadMs

Preliminary results show the event reached over 3000 people and had 434 separate on-line engagements.  It had 82 people watch for 1,474 total minutes on Facebook and there was an additional 28 people watching on YouTube. The event was also made available to those who could not tune in live.

There were three presentations during this event from local experts on dementia care and caregiving education.  Dr. Danielle Goldfarb from Banner Sun Health Research Institute presented “Life Rhythms: Routines for Healthy Brain Aging.”  “Navigating Caregiving Through Challenging Times” is the topic of the presentation from Brenda Holt, AARP Arizona Associate State Director of Community Outreach & Advocacy.  And Connie Danks, M.A. from Benevilla hosted a live Q & A session answering a myriad of specific and general questions “posted live” during the event about caregiving and challenges faced on the journey.

Information from over 20 local senior services providers was supplied including videos and links offering expert advice and resources available on topics covering senior living options, home care choices, insurance alternatives, elder law and help with government programs.  Many of these presentations and lots of caregiver resources are also available on the Caregiver Connect Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/BenevillaCGC/.

“Benevilla is excited to have had such incredible experts like Danielle, Brenda and Connie presenting at our first ever virtual caregiver event.  We are living in a unique and challenging time right now and this type of caregiver support and information is crucial for our aging communities and their families” said Joanne Thomson, President and CEO of Benevilla.

Thank you to our Event Series Sponsor, Western State Bank and Thank You to the City of Peoria for their partnership and support in this event.
