Birt’s Bistro Receives Award at Sixth Annual Taste of Surprise

Benevilla, the West Valley’s premier human services nonprofit, today announced their Birt’s Bistro Restaurant received the “Most Creative Restaurant ” award from the 2019 Taste of Surprise event hosted by the Rotary Club of Surprise held April 6th. This is the second year in a row Birt’s Bistro has brought home an award.

A crowd of over 60 attendees from local restaurants, charities and event volunteers were on hand May 2nd at the Taste of Surprise Community Appreciation Dinner to witness Birt’s Bistro Executive Chef Reuben Herrington, Benevilla President and CEO Joanne Thomson and Birt’s Bistro Catering and Events Coordinator, Emily Gonzalez receive the coveted award. The “Most Creative Restaurant” award is given to the restaurant whose food choice, display and overall presentation really excelled among the 30 plus entrants at the event. Birt’s Bistro has been a long-time supporter of the Taste of Surprise event having participated since its inception in 2014 .

Birt’s Bistro is located on the Benevilla main campus in Surprise. As a social enterprise, Birt’s Bistro helps support the work Benevilla does in the community. The Taste of Surprise event, now in its sixth year, was held for the third time in Surprise Stadium. It is the signature annual fundraising event for the Rotary Club of Surprise. Over 1200 people attended the Saturday, April 6th event sampling incredible and diverse cuisine from over 30 local restaurants. The date for next year’s Taste of Surprise event is tentatively set for Saturday, April 4, 2020.
