Corporate Sponsor APS Partners with Benevilla to Install Solar Parking at Surprise Campus

March 15, 2019

Benevilla is excited to announce construction will begin on the installation of solar shaded parking structures in the parking lots of the Benevilla Surprise Campus beginning in late Spring 2019.

The installation is part of APS’s Solar Communities Program, which provides solar-covered parking structures at no cost and annual bill savings to non-residential customers. Two parking structures will be installed and maintained by APS for the next 20 years at no cost to Benevilla. APS selected Benevilla as one of the first nonprofit organizations to receive solar-covered parking structures and a monthly bill credit. As a recipient of the program, Benevilla will receive a total of $143,400 throughout the next 20 years (nearly $600 per month).

The Solar Communities Program is free to qualifying non-residential customers that serve limited income populations, including Title 1 schools, nonprofits, rural governments and municipalities.

“In addition to all of the great benefits this program will provide for our organization and the individuals we serve, we are looking forward to being a part of APS’s growing clean energy portfolio, as well as enjoying the convenience of shaded parking for our staff and visitors,” said Joanne Thomson, Benevilla President and CEO.
