Thanks to a generous $30,000 grant from Thunderbirds Charities, more adults living with disabilities, chronic health conditions, or limited income will now have access to life-enhancing fitness services at the Benefitness Adaptive Gym.

Located on the Benevilla main campus in Surprise, the Benefitness Adaptive Gym is uniquely designed for individuals managing Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s, stroke recovery, and other age-related or neurological conditions. With support from the Thunderbirds Charities grant, Benevilla can expand its Membership Assistance Program, which helps remove financial barriers for those who need access to these specialized wellness services the most.
“We are deeply grateful for this continued investment in the health and independence of our community members,” said Benevilla President and CEO Joanne Byers. “This grant from Thunderbirds Charities helps us remove financial barriers for seniors and those living with disabilities.”
The Benefitness team includes trained exercise specialists who work one-on-one with members to develop safe, customized fitness plans. Programs focus on therapeutic movement to improve strength, mobility, balance, and overall brain health—supporting better quality of life and reducing health risks such as falls or injuries.
This grant represents more than just funding—it’s a partnership rooted in community care. Thunderbirds Charities has long supported nonprofits across the Valley, and their gift to Benevilla strengthens their commitment to fostering inclusive, healthier communities for all ages and abilities.
