From May through July, Wirtzie’s Preschool and Pre-K came alive with excitement as children ages 5 to 10 participated in the vibrant and enriching Wirtzie’s Summer School program. Thanks to generous grant funding from Walmart and the Peoria Diamond Club, students enjoyed a variety of themed activities designed to keep young minds engaged and imaginations sparked.
Each day of the week brought something new:
-
Mondays were for winding down with a movie.
-
Tuesdays turned into splash-filled Water Days.
-
Wednesdays featured special guest visitors from the community.
-
Thursdays got kids moving with Coach Trey from Benefitness.
-
Fridays were deliciously fun with Chef Michael from Chefs for Seniors, who cooked with the children.
The Wednesday guest lineup was packed with excitement and discovery. Visitors included the Phoenix Art Museum, Maricopa County Library, Surprise Fire Department, National Parks

Service, Desert Valley Pediatric Dentistry, International Musical Movement, Dino Crew Entertainment, As You Wish Pottery, and the Arizona Science Center. Each guest brought engaging, hands-on activities that opened young minds to art, science, health, and local services.

One of the most memorable days? When Bubble Maniacs brought their foam machine to campus. The entire playground was transformed into a cloud of bubbles, and both kids and staff dove into the fun with laughter and joy.
The Wirtzie’s Summer School program not only created joyful memories but also reinforced the value of community engagement, physical activity, and creativity in early education.
