As part of an orchestrated $3 million donation effort across all Sprouts Farmers Markets locations in the United States on Saturday, Sept. 6, the Sprouts Healthy Communities Foundation presented a donation to Wirtzie’s Preschool & Childcare, a program of the nonprofit, Benevilla, at the Sprouts Farmers Market located in Surprise, Arizona.
Angelita Contreras, Donor Relations Specialist, received the $5000 donation on Sept. 6 from the Sprouts Healthy Communities Foundation.
“Thanks to this support, we can expand our intergenerational garden program and continue creating transformative learning experiences for our preschoolers,” Angelita said. “The funds will help us provide children with hands-on opportunities to plant, tend, and harvest vegetables alongside older adults. These shared experiences not only build confidence in trying new foods and making healthier choices, but also strengthen motor skills, patience, and responsibility. Families often tell us their children bring this enthusiasm home, inspiring healthier eating habits that benefit the entire household.”
Nationwide, more than 550 nonprofit partners will share $3 million in funding from the Sprouts Healthy Communities Foundation. These grants support initiatives that provide children and adults with access to nutrition education, gardening and cooking programs, and other resources to support healthier living.
