Benevilla Family Resource Center Hosting Two Free Family Events

Benevilla, the West Valley’s premier family services nonprofit announced today their Family Resource Center (FRC) “Grandparents Raising Grandchildren – Kinship Caregiving Program” is hosting two free community events.  These events are targeted to grandparents raising grandchildren and caregivers raising other kin’s children in the Northwest Valley.

The first free, family fun event will be held Saturday, June 5, 2021 at 11:00AM at Uptown Alley, 13525 N. Litchfield Rd., Surprise, AZ, 85379.  Qualified families will enjoy bowling, billiards, laser tag, arcade games, pizza, salad, soda, and baked goods. To qualify, grandparents and kinship caregivers must be primary caregivers.  Income is not considered nor is formal legal custody. The second event will be held Tuesday, June 29, 2021 from 6PM to 9PM at Great Skate, 10054 N. 43rd Ave., Glendale, AZ, 85302.  Qualified families will enjoy free admission, skate or roller-blade rentals, unlimited pizza, and soft drinks for each participant. To qualify, grandparents and kinship caregivers must be primary caregivers.  Again, income is not considered nor is formal legal custody.

The Benevilla Family Resource Center and these free events are funded through “First Things First” a state-wide organization utilizing money collected from the tax on the sale of tobacco products to fund early education programs. The FRC Kinship Support Coordination Program offers individual support with its 90-day, in-home (or safe place) visitation program.  Benevilla will work with Grandfamilies facing challenges with meeting their needs or accessing services through case management and family strengthening strategies.  There are monthly support groups and educational programs designed to provide emotional and educational support.  There are also hosted “Family Fun Events,” low to no cost events planned to create family bonding and provide social interaction with other kinship families.

The Benevilla Family Resource Center is dedicated to helping parents prepare their children (0-5 years) to start school healthy and ready to succeed.  They are the family link for referrals to community services, parenting support and home visitation, parent-child classes, and application assistance (AHCCCS, SNAP, TANF.)  To contact the Benevilla Family Resource Center call (623) 207-6016 or call Sherry Griffin directly at (623) 986-9580.
