Benevilla Home Services Program Benefits from Give65 Fundraiser

August 04, 2021

Benevilla participated in the 6th-annual Give65 event, hosted by Home Instead Charities, to raise funds for their Home Services program.  The Home Services Program helps West Valley older adults and adults with disabilities stay in their homes for as long as possible by providing free volunteer assisted services such as grocery shopping, assisted transportation to medical appointments, phone pals and more.  Services are available short- or long-term to those with limited resources and options.

Give65 is a 65-hour online fundraising event to help nonprofit organizations serving seniors raise funds online and increase awareness. This year, the event ran from 6AM July 13 to July 15 at 11PM.  Benevilla raised over $9,490 which includes $500 in matching grants from Home Instead Charities.  “We are so thankful for everyone who donated during the Give65 event and for the support from Home Instead Charities. We are grateful to Home Instead’s local home health care service locations in Surprise owned by Julie and Brian Huebner and Sun City owned by Vicki and Scott Castleman for helping to make this all possible” said Sara Villanueva, Vice President of Donor Relations at Benevilla. “Through all of this amazing support we are able to fulfill our mission, helping older adults remain independent as long as possible and continue working towards enriching lives of our older population.”

The senior population continues to grow at an unprecedented pace, yet the pace of government and philanthropic support for seniors is not. Often, public funding for services and programs benefiting seniors is the first to fall victim to budget cuts.  This has become even more evident during the COVID-19 pandemic.  At Benevilla, we know this all too well.  Our many community services and programs continue to increase in demand in relation to the expanding needs of our senior population.  We must rely heavily on the generous financial support of the community to continue providing these programs and services helping older adults to remain independent at home and age with dignity.
