Benevilla Partners with Acadia Pharmaceuticals to Support Seniors

February 11, 2022

Acadia Pharmaceuticals Inc. is a biopharmaceutical company headquartered in Sorrento Valley, San Diego, California but their support of the senior populations reaches all the way to the northwest valley community Benevilla services.  Acadia specializes in the drug Nuplazid (pimavanserin), the first and only medication approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for the treatment of hallucinations and delusions associated with Parkinson’s disease psychosis (PDP).  In 2018, the FDA conducted a thorough evaluation of Nuplazid concluding with a public statement on September 20, 2018, reaffirming the positive benefit/risk profile of Nuplazid for patients with hallucinations and delusions associated with PDP.

Acadia is excited about the work Benevilla does in the community especially with Parkinson’s and dementia individuals and their caregivers, and Acadia is proud to partner with nonprofits serving these populations. They chose to partner with Benevilla through a corporate donation benefitting the Benevilla Caregiver Connect events and the Caregiver Support Groups and Life Coaching programs.

“Benevilla is thankful for Acadia’s financial support of these supportive programs for Caregivers and their loved ones and their partnership in ensuring Benevilla is able to continue to enrich the lives of thousands of community members each year” said Sara Villanueva, Vice President of Donor Relations at Benevilla.

The non-profit Benevilla is here to provide the highest quality community resources for you.  We recognize caring for the needs of older adults reaches beyond the individual to the entire family. Not only do our well-established services help older adult clients, but many programs address the ongoing needs of caregivers and families.  Taking care of someone can be difficult. Benevilla knows this and hosts 7 free, weekly support groups offering friends who can relate to your daily ups and downs and professionals who offer information and assistance.  Benevilla support groups provide opportunities for caregivers to learn more techniques in providing care for their loved one while receiving encouragement and support from other group members.
