Benevilla Thanks Sun City West Witches’ Ride for Support

September 01, 2023

Benevilla is thankful to the members of the 2023 Sun City West Witches’ Ride for choosing them for the second year in a row as the recipient of all donations raised at their upcoming October 24th, annual Halloween themed event. Over $11,000 was raised last year by the event to support the numerous services and resources Benevilla offers to the community and hopes are more will be raised this year.

“The Witches’ Ride is a fun-filled event with hundreds of wonderfully decorated golf carts, music, food trucks, the incredible witches’ dance and most importantly all of the great friends and supporters of Benevilla we have the pleasure to meet with and ALL are welcome” said Benevilla President and CEO, Joanne Thomson. “We are so grateful for their support and generosity of the Benevilla mission in the community.”

While supporting a local charity remains the primary focus of the celebration, the Witches’ Ride is a much anticipated, community-wide event for the Sun City West women who support the cause. Riders decorate their bikes and golf cars and dress in full witch regalia including brooms and hats and perhaps even a raven or two. They assemble in the parking lot of the Beardsley Recreation Center and after the 5-mile parade ride through the community, the witches and any members of the public are welcome to commune in the park for food trucks, and prize drawings. The festivities include live music by the local band “Still Above Ground” and the infamous witches’ dance. The food trucks on hand will be Sanchos Tacos, Burgers Amore, Johnny Dog and Kona Ice. (Parade 3:30-4:45/5:00pm, Witches Dance 5:00pm, Food Trucks and Live band 5:30-8:30pm. The public is welcome).

“Working with and on behalf of Benevilla is a wonderful opportunity to combine an awesome community event with a very deserving service organization,” stated head witch and event coordinator Sandra Forsey.
