Benevilla “Caregiver Connect” Event Coming August 24th

Benevilla is excited to announce their second “Caregiver Connect” event of 2018 will be held in Sun City West August 24, 2018. This free educational event provides family caregivers with a caregiver group for support and guidance to assist them on their caregiving journey. The Benevilla Caregiver Connect event will be held Friday, August 24th from 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Lord of Life Lutheran Church at 13724 W Meeker Blvd, Sun City West, AZ 85375.

Call 623-584-4999 to register today, space is limited. There will be three informative presentations during the event called Alzheimer’s 101, Paying for the Next Steps and Making Memories. The keynote speaker is Dr. Anna Burke from Barrow Neurological Institute. Additional expert speakers include Lora Johnson Elder Law Attorney of Johnson & Associates and Shannon Arriola of Arriola & Associates.

Family caregivers have the opportunity to get their pressing questions answered and collect free resources from many of our community senior care providers.  A Benevilla C.A.R.E.S. Resource Specialist will also be on-site for anyone needing one-on-one support.  At the last event, over 45 local senior services providers were on hand to supply critical caregiver information to the attendees.  They also offer expert advice and direction on a myriad of topics including senior living options, home care choices, insurance alternatives, elder law and help with government programs.

Benevilla has been helping family caregivers through our caregiver group since 1981 when they started their very first crisis counseling service.  “The Benevilla founders were aware that family caregivers were bearing a heavy burden when caring for their ill or incapacitated loved ones while trying to keep themselves healthy” says Benevilla President and CEO, Joanne Thomson. “Today, 30-60% of caregivers pass away from illnesses related to caregiver stress before the person they are caring for. That’s why getting family caregivers support and information is crucial for our aging communities and their families.”
