Benevilla “Caregiver Connect” Event Friday, October 27 in Sun City

October 18, 2023

Time is running out to register for the Benevilla annual Caregiver Connect event, Friday, October 27th from 9:00am until 1:00pm. This free event provides family caregivers with support, expert guidance, and valuable information to assist them on their caregiving journey. The event will be held at Bellevue Heights Church located at 9440 W Hutton Drive, Sun City, 85351.

“Our focus is directly on caregiver health, fitness and wellbeing this year” says Benevilla President and CEO Joanne Thomson. “We are providing a wide array of interactive activities, informational workshops, and health assessments designed to help caregivers maintain their strength and mental stability while mitigating the often-overwhelming stress that accompanies the caregiving journey.”

The theme for this annual event is “Strengthening the Caregiver.” The objective is to help family caregivers get their pressing questions answered. There will be educational presentations focusing on caregiver health and resources to equip caregivers with the latest information on how to best care for their loved ones. There will be several interactive 30-minute workshops, health assessments, wellness screenings, fitness demonstrations and healthy living products.

The Benevilla Preferred Partners, local senior services providers, will also have table displays to supply important caregiver information to the attendees. They are experts in senior living options, home care choices, insurance alternatives, elder law, hospice and more. The Benevilla programs will also be on hand with information highlighting our Benefitness Adaptive Gym and free C.A.R.E.S. Resource Department including free support groups, home services, and educational workshops. There will even be a free healthy breakfast available as well as snacks throughout the event.

Benevilla has been helping family caregivers since 1981 when they started as a crisis counseling service. “The Benevilla founders understood family caregivers were bearing a heavy burden caring for their loved ones often neglecting their own health” says Benevilla President and CEO, Joanne Thomson. “Today, 30 to 60 percent of caregivers pass from illnesses related to caregiver stress before the person they are caring for. That’s why getting family caregivers this type of support and information is crucial for our aging communities and their families.”
