Benevilla, the West Valley’s premier family services nonprofit provided free meals again this year on Thanksgiving Day at Birt’s Bistro for caregivers, their loved ones and those in our community who might otherwise be alone or not have the means to make their own nutritious holiday dinner.
Benevilla understands this time of year can be very stressful for those caring for a loved one or living alone. “We hope we make the Holiday Season a little bit brighter by offering these complimentary meals to those who need it most” said Julie Chavez, Food and Beverage Manager at Birt’s Bistro.
For years, Benevilla and Birt’s Bistro have provided these free holiday meal celebrations to the area neighbors and residents believing no one should be alone on the holidays. A traditional turkey dinner with all the trimmings and pumpkin pie were served to over 35 community members by Benevilla and Birt’s Bistro volunteers and employees. Another 5 meals were picked up to be enjoyed at home. Birt’s Bistro is in the Hellen and John M. Jacobs Independence Plaza on the main Benevilla campus at 16752 N Greasewood St. in Surprise.
“We’re so delighted to have this opportunity to come together to help our neighbors who are unable to cook for themselves, those who may not necessarily have family nearby to enjoy the holiday with and to the caregivers and loved ones who joined us,” said Joanne Thomson, President and CEO of Benevilla. “It is such a blessing to provide this service and witness the joy and support that comes with it, every year.”
Benevilla will also host a free Christmas Day Meals on Christmas Day, Wednesday, December 25th beginning at 12:00 Noon at Birt’s Bistro. Space is limited, so please RSVP by calling (623) 584-4999.
Birt’s Bistro is a social enterprise where every purchase helps fund Benevilla programs and services. Our motto is “Birt’s Bistro is building community, one plate at a time.” Birt’s also has a private room for meetings and offers the entire facility for private catered events.
